We are a southern California based airgun club. Started in 1984, California Airgun Shooters Association (CASA) is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, Field Target clubs in the U.S. We are here to encourage the safe use of airguns and promote competitive matches including Field Target, Airgun Silhouette, Airgun Benchrest and other fun disciplines.

Our airgun range at Angeles Shooting Ranges (ASR, located at 12651 Little Tujunga Canyon Road, Sylmar, CA) offers a Field Target course for American Airgun Field Target Association (AAFTA) matches (maximum caliber is .22 and 20 fpe) and a practice range for members and non-members (non-members must be accompanied by a member to use the practice range). Maximum caliber is .25.

Range opens at 9 a.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. weekends (same as ASR hours). Check ASR website for closing hours. There is a daily use fee of $3 for all shooters that are members, and $5 for guests, that must be paid at the ASR office before use of the range.

FIELD TARGET MATCHES

What is Field Target?

Field Target Competition is one of the most challenging ways to test your shooting skills. Started in Great Britain in the early 1980's, field target was originally created to simulate hunting scenarios. A typical competition will consist of 12 to 13 shooting lanes with two targets per lane, and 48 to 52 shots. Shots are taken from sitting, kneeling, and standing positions from distances between 10 and 55 yards with targets (Hit-Zones) ranging in size from 3/8 inches to 2 inches in diameter.

Matches

All matches are on the SECOND SATURDAY and FOURTH SUNDAY of each month. Cost: $15 members, $17 non-members. CASA matches take place at the ANGELES SHOOTING RANGES (ASR), 12651 Little Tujunga Canyon Road, Lake View Terrace, CA 91342. Look for the CASA metal storage shed on the left side of main parking lot and adjacent to the ASR entrance road. Sign-in and sighting-in is next to the CASA shed. Our Field Target range (match site) is on the right-hand side of the main ASR entrance road, approximately 100 yards south of the shed. Guns must shoot .177 to 22 caliber pellets and less than 20 foot pounds of energy (fpe). Safety GLASSES AND HAT are required. Bring your own water. It does not matter the skill level, all shooters welcomed.

The following American Airgun Field Target Association (AAFTA) divisions in PCP and Piston classes are offered: Hunter, Open, World Field Target Federation (WFTF), and Freestyle (not approved AAFTA class). Generally, CASA matches are informally shot, but CASA will have at least one AAFTA match in which all shooters are bound by AAFTA rules.
